Building a Complete MEAN Stack Application walks intermediate developers through building one complete, production-ready web application using MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js - from secure backend to deployed frontend.

You start by designing the backend: setting up your tools, building a RESTful API with Node.js and Express and connecting it to MongoDB Atlas. Then you create the frontend - an Angular app that talks to your API through HTTP requests - and deploy the whole application to production.

It's the final course of Board Infinity's Learning MEAN Stack by Building Real world Application specialization, and you finish with a deployed app to show as a portfolio project.

02 Who it's for

Built for developers ready to ship a full stack app.

If you know the pieces of the MEAN stack and want to put them together, the course was written with you in mind.

MEAN basics

Developers with MEAN basics

You've met MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js - now build one capstone that uses them all.

Full stack

Round out your API skills with an Angular frontend and a production deployment.

Bootcamp

Bootcamp graduates

Turn what you learned into a real MEAN project you can walk through in interviews.

03 What you'll learn

One complete application. Four layers, all yours.

You build an employee management app from scratch - every layer below is part of the same project.

Module 1

A Node.js and Express server

The server-side app, its employee data model and configuration, with Postman ready to test it.

Module 1

A REST API on MongoDB Atlas

POST, GET, PUT and DELETE endpoints, registered as routes and connected to a cloud database.

Module 2

An Angular frontend

Navigation, an employee list, and add and edit pages - all reading and writing through your API.

Module 2

A deployed, live application

Backend, APIs and frontend deployed to production - including on Netlify - and peer reviewed.

05 Tools & skills

Master the four tools that make up the MEAN stack.

The stack you build in, and the skills you leave with.

Database

MongoDB

The document database behind your app, set up in the cloud with MongoDB Atlas.

API framework

Express

The framework for the routes and REST endpoints your frontend calls.

Frontend

Angular

Components and services that list, add and edit data through your API.

Runtime

Node.js

The JavaScript runtime your server runs on, from local development to production.

Skills you leave with

Twelve skills from the course, grouped the way full stack work actually splits - the backend, the frontend, and shipping it.

Backend

A server and API that handle real requests and real data.

  • Node.js
  • Express.js
  • RESTful API design
  • MongoDB

Frontend

An interface that reads and writes through your API.

  • Angular
  • User interface (UI)
  • Components & services
  • Connecting to APIs

Ship

The difference between a local demo and an app people can use.

  • CRUD operations
  • API testing with Postman
  • Application deployment
  • Hosting on Netlify
Certificate

Proof you can link to.

Finish the graded work and Board Infinity issues a shareable certificate through Coursera - add it to your LinkedIn profile, resume or CV.

Issued on completion of the graded quizzes and the peer-reviewed project. As the final course, it completes the MEAN Stack specialization certificate as well.

06 Career impact

Every product team has one question: who here can build it end to end?

These are the roles that rely on exactly this skill set.

Where these skills are in demand

Full Stack Developer

The role this course maps to most directly: owning a feature from database to interface.

MEAN Stack Developer

Teams built on MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js - the exact stack you ship here.

Node.js Engineer

Designing and running the APIs and services that apps depend on.

Angular Developer

Frontends that connect to real APIs - not just static pages.

Backend Developer

REST endpoints, database connections and routes, built and tested properly.

Web Application Developer

Building internal tools and business apps like the employee manager in this course.

JavaScript Engineer

One language across the whole stack, from server to browser.

08 FAQ

Common questions

Everything learners ask before enrolling, answered plainly.

About the course

Developers who already have some familiarity with MEAN stack technologies and want to build a complete, real-world application. It's not designed for absolute beginners with no prior MongoDB, Express, Angular or Node.js exposure.

To design a scalable backend with Node.js and Express, connect it to MongoDB, build a responsive Angular frontend, and deploy the complete application to production. By the end, you'll have a full MEAN stack application built end to end.

Node.js, Express, MongoDB Atlas, Angular, Postman for API testing, and a code editor such as VS Code. The deployment lessons also cover platforms like Netlify for hosting your frontend.

Yes. The course assumes existing familiarity with MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js individually, and focuses on combining them into one complete, deployed application. The first two courses of the specialization cover Angular and Node.js APIs if you need them first.

About 10 hours across 2 modules - roughly one week at 10 hours a week. It's fully self-paced, so you can spread it over several weeks around a full-time job and revisit any module as often as you need.

Unlike scattered free tutorials, this course follows one connected, end-to-end project from backend design through deployment, with graded assessments, a peer-reviewed project and a certificate to show for it.

Career & certificate

Yes. Once you complete all required assessments under an active subscription, you receive a shareable certificate you can add to your LinkedIn profile or resume. As the final course, it also completes the MEAN Stack specialization certificate.

Yes. The hands-on project - backend architecture, RESTful APIs, connecting a frontend and deployment - mirrors the end-to-end questions asked in MEAN stack developer interviews, and gives you a real app to walk through.

Roles like Full Stack Developer, MEAN Stack Developer and Node.js Engineer, at companies ranging from startups to large enterprises.

Yes. You get Coursera Labs for hands-on practice, in-course check-ins, and structured feedback through quizzes and graded assessments to track your progress.

The course is available through Coursera's 7-day free trial, with full access to videos, readings, assignments and discussions during the trial. After that you need an active Coursera subscription to continue. Financial aid is available for eligible learners on the Coursera course page.
