01 About the course

From the .NET environment to advanced, asynchronous C#.

Three modules take you from understanding the .NET environment, to writing C# programs, to using advanced C# programming concepts.

  1. .NET Core foundations

.NET Core and its features, .NET Framework vs .NET Core, VS Code and the .NET CLI

    Module 1
  2. C# fundamentals

Variables and data types, operators, control flow, arrays and strings

    Module 2
  3. Object-oriented programming

Classes and objects, encapsulation, constructors, inheritance

    Module 2
  4. Advanced C# patterns

Polymorphism, interfaces, properties, indexers, delegates, events, lambdas

    Module 3
  5. Asynchronous programming

Synchronous vs asynchronous, then the APM, EAP and TAP patterns

    Module 3

C# for .NET Developers starts with .NET Core and ASP.NET foundations: configuring VS Code, working with .NET CLI commands, comparing .NET Framework and .NET Core, and building a first console application.

From there it moves into C# programming fundamentals and OOP, then into advanced patterns - polymorphism, abstract classes, interfaces, delegates, events, lambda expressions, exception handling - and the three async models: APM, EAP and TAP.

Every module pairs short video lessons with readings and quizzes: 61 videos, 14 readings and 13 assignments, plus an ungraded lab, a plugin and a discussion prompt.
