From your first console app to asynchronous C#.
One progression, in order: set up .NET, learn the language, think in objects, then write the C# that real applications rely on.
.Net Full Stack Foundation is the first course in Board Infinity's .NET FullStack Developer Specialization. It sets up the complete .NET development environment - Visual Studio, VS Code and the .NET CLI - and explains the .NET Core platform before you write a first console application.
From there it teaches C# from the ground up: variables, data types, operators, control flow, arrays and strings, then object-oriented programming. The final module moves into advanced C# - interfaces, delegates, events, lambda expressions, exception handling and asynchronous programming patterns.
A starting point for anyone new to .NET.
The course FAQ notes that no prior C#, ASP.NET or .NET experience is required.

Foundations for the roles .NET work runs on.
The course covers foundational skills relevant to role areas like these, which the course FAQ mentions. Treat them as directions to explore - a foundation course is a first step, not a guarantee of a role.
.NET Developer
Relies on the .NET Core platform, the .NET CLI and C# - the ground Modules 1 and 2 cover.
ASP.NET Developer
Builds on the ASP.NET and .NET Core architecture introduced in Module 1.
C# Developer
Draws on C# fundamentals, OOP and the advanced patterns in Module 3.
Junior Full Stack Developer (.NET)
This course is the first of three; the specialization continues with React and backend .NET.
Software Engineer (.NET)
Uses OOP design, exception handling and asynchronous programming in everyday code.
Completing the course does not guarantee employment, interviews or a particular salary.
The honest comparison
Plenty of .NET material is free. So what does a course add?
Free documentation and tutorials are genuinely useful, and many learners use them alongside a course. What a structured course adds is the order, the checking and one place to follow it all.

About the course
Anyone - it is open to complete beginners, and no prior C#, ASP.NET or .NET experience is needed. The course FAQ describes it as suited to computer science students, fresh graduates, career switchers and junior developers building a foundation for .NET full stack development.
.NET Core architecture, the .NET CLI and ASP.NET fundamentals; C# programming, including variables, operators, control flow, arrays and strings; object-oriented programming in C# - classes, inheritance, polymorphism and interfaces; and advanced patterns including LINQ, delegates, events, lambda expressions, exception handling and asynchronous programming. The syllabus above lists every lesson.
Visual Studio and VS Code (both free), the .NET CLI and the Microsoft .NET Core SDK. The course includes step-by-step environment setup, so you can start even if you have never installed .NET tools before.
Coursera's course overview lists 2 weeks at 10 hours a week, and the syllabus lists 4, 6 and 7 hours for the three modules. The course FAQ gives a separate estimate: 3 weeks at 4-5 hours a week, with approximately 16 hours of content, and most learners finishing in 3-4 weeks. Because the course is self-paced, your time depends on how much you practise.
No. The course starts with what .NET Core is and how to set up your environment before any C# code, and Module 2 teaches C# from scratch - including variables, loops and OOP.
Yes. It is self-paced with a flexible schedule and no fixed live sessions. According to the course FAQ, you can start at any time, pause between modules, and finish in a few weeks or spread the course over 2-3 months.
The course FAQ says Coursera provides learner support throughout the course, and that you can send feedback and queries at the end of each module for the course team to review and respond to. If you want one-to-one help, Board Infinity also offers optional 1:1 coaching, which is separate from the Coursera course.
Free tutorials and documentation are useful, and many learners use them alongside a course. This course puts the material in one structured sequence - three progressive modules, from ASP.NET basics to async C# - with graded assessments along the way and a shareable certificate on completion.
Access & pricing
Coursera offers a 7-day free trial, which gives access to the videos, readings, assignments and discussions. After the trial, you need an active Coursera subscription to keep learning, and the certificate is awarded once you complete the required assessments with an active subscription. The Coursera course page has current pricing.
To access the course materials and assignments, and to earn a Certificate, you purchase the Certificate experience when you enroll. You may be able to start with a free trial. Some courses also offer a "Full Course, No Certificate" option, which gives access to the materials and graded assessments but not a certificate.
Enrolling gives you access to all courses in the .NET FullStack Developer Specialization, and you earn a certificate when you complete the work. Your electronic Certificate is added to your Accomplishments page on Coursera, where you can print it or add it to your LinkedIn profile.
Yes, in select learning programs you can apply for financial aid or a scholarship if you cannot afford the enrollment fee. If aid is available for this program, a link to apply appears on the Coursera description page.
Career & certificate
Yes. Completing the graded quizzes and assessments earns a shareable course certificate through Coursera, which you can add to LinkedIn and your resume. It is a course certificate from Board Infinity, not a Microsoft certification.
The course covers C# and .NET topics that commonly come up in technical interviews - OOP principles, inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, LINQ, delegates, async/await and exception handling. It can help you prepare, but it does not guarantee interviews or job offers.
The course FAQ lists .NET Developer, ASP.NET Developer, C# Developer, Junior Full Stack Developer (.NET) and Software Engineer (.NET). The course covers foundational skills relevant to these roles; outcomes depend on your wider experience and the job market.
Build your .NET foundation. Then build what comes next.
Start with C# and .NET fundamentals here, then carry them into React and backend .NET in the rest of the specialization.
