Common questions

Everything learners ask before enrolling, answered plainly.

About the course

You'll learn how management consulting works and how to prepare for it. Module one covers what consulting is, types of consulting firms, real assignments, roles from analyst to partner, the interview process and how to approach case interviews. Module two covers guesstimates - why they're asked, how they're used on projects, and the bottom-up and top-down approaches. Module three covers consulting tools, from issue trees, prioritization, benchmarking, Pareto analysis and KPIs to the BCG Matrix, SWOT, PESTLE, value chain mapping, the GE McKinsey 9-box matrix and the balanced scorecard.

No. Coursera lists this as a beginner-level course, and it's built for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as anyone new to consulting. Course 1 of the specialization, Fundamentals of Business Management, is a useful primer if you want the business basics first.

The current enrollment options and price for your region are shown on the Coursera course page. The course is included with a Coursera Plus subscription, and Coursera's financial aid is available for eligible learners. Enrollment also includes the whole Foundations of Management Consulting specialization track.

About 12 hours of total learning across 3 modules of roughly 3 to 5 hours each, with 42 video lessons, 7 readings and 10 assignments. Coursera estimates 1 week at 10 hours a week. It's fully self-paced - deadlines flex around your schedule.

Each module has practice quizzes for its lessons and a one-hour graded quiz at the end - 10 assignments in all. Readings after each lesson go further into consulting essentials, careers and recruitment, case interviews, guesstimate techniques, issue trees and advanced consulting frameworks.

Yes - this page is Board Infinity's own overview of our course. Enrollment, payment, video lessons, grading and the certificate all happen on Coursera, where the course is hosted. Think of this page as the detailed tour before you head there.

Career & certificate

Yes. Completing the graded quizzes earns you a shareable certificate from Board Infinity, issued through Coursera with its own verification link. You can add it to your LinkedIn profile, resume or CV, and the same completed work counts toward the full specialization certificate.

That's what much of it is for. Module one walks through the consulting interview process and how to open, analyze and close a case, with tips and a preparation plan. Module two is dedicated to guesstimates, which interviewers use to test structured thinking under time pressure.

Two ways. The certificate goes in your LinkedIn Licenses & Certifications section via Coursera's one-click add. Just as valuable is naming what you know: a line like “Studied management consulting - case interviews, guesstimates, issue trees, BCG Matrix, SWOT and PESTLE analysis” gives interviewers something concrete to ask about.

It supports consulting analyst and associate consultant roles, and strategy, business and operations analyst roles where structured problem solving and frameworks are part of the job. The course also explains the full career path inside a consulting firm, from analyst to partner.

This is the second course of the specialization. Before it comes Fundamentals of Business Management (~13 hours); after it, Case-Based Frameworks for Mastering Management Consulting (~14 hours) applies frameworks to profitability, market entry, pricing, growth and M&A cases. Completing all three earns the specialization certificate.
