A short introductory programme designed to give you a solid foundation in Vue.js - the concepts every Vue application is built from, in the order they build on each other.
Fundamentals of VueJS is a short introductory course that gives you a strong starting point for building modern web applications with Vue.js. It is deliberately compact - four hours, two modules - and it covers the fundamentals rather than touring the whole Vue ecosystem.
The course progresses through Introduction to VueJS and Basic Concepts and then Components and State Management. Along the way you cover VueJS fundamentals, development environment setup, your first Vue application, data binding, event handling and conditional rendering - then components, props, emitted events, slots and scoped slots, and finally state management with Vuex.
The rhythm is the same in both modules: short screen-recorded lessons, a reading, then a quiz on the same ideas. Eighteen video lessons, six readings, five assignments and one plugin activity, at an intermediate level - a basic understanding of web development and JavaScript is beneficial before you start.
The course is pitched at intermediate level. A basic understanding of web development and JavaScript is beneficial - advanced JavaScript is not assumed.
You write HTML, CSS and JavaScript by hand. Components, props and reactive data binding are the jump from pages to applications.
You know the language but not this framework. Module 1 gets a Vue environment running, and module 2 gets you to Vuex.
Vue.js is asked for by name in frontend roles. Four hours is enough to find out whether it fits how you like to build.
You want the ideas behind component-driven development - reusable components, event-driven updates and centralised state - taught in one place.
The first three are the official learning outcomes for this course. The fourth is where module 2 finishes: application state, held in one place.
The core principles of Vue.js, its significance in modern web development, and how to set up a development environment for Vue.js - then your first Vue application, running.
Master data binding, event handling and conditional rendering - the three mechanics that turn static markup into an interface that reacts to data and to the user.
Build and effectively use components, pass data down with props and send events back up - and leverage features like slots and scoped slots to keep layouts flexible.
What state management is for, what Vuex is, and how to work with it - so data that several components share lives in one place instead of being copied around.
A dedicated coach who builds frontend applications for a living - someone who can look at the component that will not re-render and tell you why.

The binding that will not update, explained by someone who has debugged it before.
Not just whether they render - whether the props, events and slots are drawn in the right places.
Interfaces set for you, then reviewed, so Vue syntax turns into fluency.
Which frontend path fits you, and what to learn after these fundamentals.
Four hours end to end, fully self-paced. Open a module to see its objectives and every video, reading and assignment inside it, with durations.
In Module 1 you build the foundation for working with Vue.js: what VueJS is and the role it plays in modern web development, how to set up a development environment, how to create your first Vue application, and then the three mechanics of an interactive interface - data binding, event handling and conditional rendering.
In Module 2 you move deeper into Vue.js: how to create modular applications using components - passing props, emitting events, and composing markup with slots and scoped slots - and how to manage complex application state with Vuex.

Nothing to install before you start - module 1 sets the development environment up on screen.
The whole course. Templates, data binding, events, components, slots and Vuex.
Reusable pieces with props in and events out - the unit every Vue application is assembled from.
A Vue development environment, set up in module 1 so you are writing in a real project from the first lesson.
Application frameworks and web frameworks - the ideas here carry across every component-driven framework.
The skills and tools Coursera lists for this course, grouped the way frontend work actually splits - building the interface, making it react, and the frameworks around it.
Turning markup into an application.

Components, props, events, slots and centralised state are what frontend interviews probe first. This is a foundational course, not an advanced specialisation - it is the base the rest is built on.
Component-driven interfaces, event handling and application state - exactly the four hours this course covers.
The direct path. Everything after this - routing, modern state libraries, testing - assumes the fundamentals taught here.
Framework fluency on top of the language. Data binding and emitted events are the patterns behind most modern JS work.
Interactive web applications built from reusable parts, rather than pages wired together by hand.
UI components, slots and scoped slots - the tools for building a component library other people can use.
Event-driven programming and application structure, learned on a framework that makes both explicit.
Every topic in this course exists free somewhere on the internet, and nobody is pretending otherwise. What a course adds is the order you learn it in, the checking that makes it stick, and something to show at the end. This one is four hours of fundamentals - it does not claim to cover the entire Vue ecosystem.
Suggested directions once you have finished. These topics are not covered by this course - they are where a foundation in Vue.js takes you next.
The next layer of the framework, once components and state feel natural.
Where an interface stops being a demo and starts holding real information.
What changes when other people depend on what you built.

It is a short introductory course from Board Infinity, hosted on Coursera, designed to give you a solid foundation in Vue.js. It runs about 4 hours across 2 modules - Introduction to VueJS and Basic Concepts and Components and State Management - and contains 18 video lessons, 6 readings, 5 assignments and 1 plugin activity. It is pitched at intermediate level with a flexible, self-paced schedule and a shareable certificate on completion.
Vue.js is a JavaScript framework for building user interfaces. Instead of updating the page by hand, you describe what the interface should look like for a given piece of data, and Vue keeps the two in sync. The first module covers what VueJS is and the role it plays in modern web development before you write any code.
Frontend developers, web developers and JavaScript developers, aspiring frontend developers, developers interested in modern JavaScript frameworks, and anyone who wants to build a foundation in Vue.js. It is not designed for absolute beginners with no web-development knowledge.
A basic understanding of web development and JavaScript is beneficial. The course is listed at intermediate level. It does not require advanced JavaScript, and it does not assume you have used a framework before - but it does assume you are comfortable with HTML, CSS and the basics of the language.
No. Setting Up the Environment in module 1 covers setting up a development environment for Vue.js on screen, and the very next lesson walks through your first Vue application.
Understanding Data Binding is an 8-minute lesson in module 1, followed by the reading Read More About Data Binding and Events and a practice quiz. Data binding is what connects your data to the template: change the data and the interface updates, without you writing the update yourself.
Yes. Event Handling in Vue is a 7-minute lesson in module 1. It covers responding to what the user does - clicks, input, form submissions - and is one of the three mechanics the second learning outcome is built on, alongside data binding and conditional rendering.
Showing or hiding parts of an interface depending on the current state - an error message that only appears when there is an error, a spinner that only appears while loading. Conditional Rendering is a 9-minute lesson and closes module 1.
Yes - that is what module 2 opens with. Introduction to Components explains what a component is and why applications are built out of them, and the module's learning outcome is creating modular and maintainable web applications by building and effectively using components.
They are how components talk to each other. Props pass data down from a parent component into a child; emitted events send information back up. Passing Props and Emitting is the longest lesson in the course at 12 minutes.
Slots let a component leave a gap that whoever uses it fills with their own markup - so one card or modal component can hold many different kinds of content. Scoped slots go further and hand data from the component back out to that markup. Slots and Scoped Slots is a 9-minute lesson in module 2.
Yes. Module 2 closes with three lessons on it: Introduction to State Management (8 min), Vuex - State Management Library (5 min) and Working with Vuex (7 min), plus a reading and a practice quiz.
Vuex is the state management library for Vue. Rather than each component holding its own copy of the data, Vuex keeps shared application state in one central place that any component can read from and update - which is what keeps a growing application from turning into a tangle of props.
About 4 hours in total, split evenly - roughly 2 hours per module. Because it is self-paced, most learners spread it across a few evenings.
Two. Module 1 is Introduction to VueJS and Basic Concepts (10 videos, 3 readings, 2 assignments, 1 plugin). Module 2 is Components and State Management (8 videos, 3 readings, 3 assignments).
Five. Four are practice quizzes - Understanding VueJS, Data Binding and Events, Components in Vue, and State Management in Vue - and one is the graded quiz, Fundamentals of VueJS, which runs 40 minutes and covers the whole course.
Yes - the schedule is flexible and deadlines can be reset to fit around you. The course is also available in 6 languages, and taught in English.
Yes. A shareable certificate is issued on successful completion, through Coursera, and Coursera's one-click button adds it to the Licenses & Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile. It is a Board Infinity course certificate - not an official Vue.js certification.
The price is shown at checkout on the Coursera course page and can vary by region. Coursera's financial aid is available to eligible learners.
It is the foundation, not the finish line. Four hours gets you to the point where you can read and write Vue confidently - components, props, events, slots and Vuex - which is the level most advanced Vue material assumes as its starting point. Roles will also want practice on top: routing, API integration, testing and a portfolio of things you have actually built.
