01 About the course

One course that goes all the way to spatial reasoning.

Most reasoning prep is a pile of loose question sets. This one builds in order - patterns first, then arrangements, then analytical logic, diagrams and finally cubes and dice.

Logical & Analytical Reasoning - Exam & Recruitment Prep develops reasoning the way exams actually test it: pattern recognition first, then logical deduction, then the shortcut techniques that let you finish a section inside the clock. It starts at number and letter series and coding-decoding, and does not stop until you are cutting cubes and reading dice.

The shape is consistent across all five modules: short worked-example lessons, then a timed quiz on the same idea. There are 56 lessons and 19 assignments - five graded module quizzes and fourteen practice quizzes - so you find out what you actually know, topic by topic.

It assumes no prior aptitude-course experience. Every topic opens with an introduction lesson before difficulty steps up through easy, medium and difficult problem sets, and most sets are revisited with a dedicated shortcut approach.

02 Who it's for

For anyone facing a reasoning section with a timer on it.

If one of these is you, the course was built for exactly this starting point. No prior aptitude course is assumed.

Exam aspirants

Preparing for competitive and entrance exams

Banking, government, MBA entrance and similar papers all carry a reasoning section. This builds it from the foundations rather than from a question bank.

Final-year students

Campus placements are coming

Placement aptitude rounds lean on series, arrangements and Venn diagrams. The five graded quizzes tell you where you stand before the real one does.

Job seekers

Facing a job aptitude test

Recruitment assessments are timed and pattern-heavy. The shortcut lessons exist specifically for the moment when reading the long way round costs you the question.

Early professionals

Brushing up before the next move

You did this once at college and it has gone rusty. Self-paced, 23 hours end to end, and you can take the modules in the order your test demands.

03 What you'll learn

Four capabilities, in the order they build.

These are the learning outcomes Coursera lists for this course - what you leave able to do, under exam conditions.

Module 1

Analyze number, letter and coding-decoding series

Spot patterns fast under exam pressure - prime, perfect square and perfect cube series, digit operations, multiplication and division chains, alphabet place value, and symbol, letter and set-based coding.

Module 2–3

Apply arrangement, distribution and selection techniques

Solve analytical reasoning problems where people or objects must be seated, ordered, allocated, chosen or ranked under a set of constraints - from easy sets to real-exam difficulty.

Module 4

Design Venn diagram based solutions

Read the regions, then work two-figure and three-figure logical deduction problems - with the shortcut approach taught alongside the full method for every difficult set.

Module 5

Build spatial reasoning for cubes and dice

Identify cube faces and dice properties, then handle cube cutting - even cuts, odd cuts and even pieces - using the proven shortcut methods competitive exams reward.

Where your minutes actually go in a reasoning section, and which questions to leave.

Your working read line by line

Not just whether you got it - whether the route you took would hold up at speed.

Practice beyond the quizzes

Extra sets chosen for your weak topic, then reviewed, so the shortcuts become automatic.

06 Where it applies

Reasoning is the first gate - and it is the one you can train.

Aptitude sections are where a lot of strong candidates get filtered out before anyone reads the rest of the application. These are the contexts where this skill is tested.

Where these skills are tested

Campus placements

Placement aptitude rounds lean heavily on series, arrangements and Venn diagrams, usually against a tight clock.

Recruitment aptitude tests

Pre-interview assessments used across hiring processes commonly include a logical and analytical reasoning section.

Banking exams

Reasoning ability is a standard section in banking recruitment papers, where speed decides the cut-off as much as accuracy.

Government exams

General intelligence and reasoning papers draw on exactly these formats - series, coding, arrangements, diagrams and cubes.

MBA entrance exams

Papers such as CAT and XAT test analytical and logical reasoning as a section in its own right.

General analytical problem solving

Reading constraints carefully and deducing from them is a habit that outlasts any single paper.

Exam and company names above are examples of contexts in which logical reasoning is commonly tested. The honest comparison

Reasoning questions are free everywhere. So what is this?

Every topic here exists somewhere free - a video on series, a PDF of arrangement sets, a textbook chapter on Venn diagrams. Nobody is pretending otherwise. What a course adds is the order you meet them in, the timing that makes them stick, and something to show at the end.

08 FAQ

Common questions

Everything learners ask before enrolling, answered plainly.

About the course

Anyone. It is a beginner-level course, open to students preparing for competitive exams, students preparing for campus placements, learners preparing for job aptitude tests, learners preparing for entrance examinations, and early professionals brushing up on reasoning. No prior aptitude-course experience is required - it is designed for complete beginners.

Five modules of logical and analytical reasoning. You will analyse number, letter and coding-decoding series to spot patterns fast under exam pressure; apply arrangement, distribution and selection techniques to analytical reasoning problems; design Venn diagram based solutions to two-figure and three-figure logical deduction problems; and build spatial reasoning to solve cube and dice problems using proven shortcut methods. That is 56 video lessons, 5 readings and 19 assignments.

None. There is no special software for this course. Concepts are taught through video lectures, readings, timed practice quizzes, graded assessments and discussions. A notebook and pen are sufficient for working through the problems - no Python, Excel, MATLAB, coding tools or dedicated aptitude software is required.

No. This is a logical and analytical reasoning course, not a mathematics course. It is designed for complete beginners from any background, and no prior aptitude-course experience is assumed. Every topic opens with an introduction lesson before the difficulty steps up.

Coursera lists it as about 2 weeks at a suggested pace of 10 hours a week. The five modules total roughly 23 hours of material. It is fully self-paced with a flexible schedule, so evenings and weekends will stretch it out - and that is fine.

Yes. The course has a flexible schedule and is fully self-paced - deadlines reset around you. You can also take the modules in the order your own test demands rather than strictly one to five.

As soon as you enroll on Coursera. Access to lectures and assignments depends on your enrollment type - if you take a course in audit mode you may not be able to access every assignment, and full access to graded work and the certificate comes with purchasing the certificate experience or a subscription that includes it.

Pricing is shown at checkout on the Coursera course page and can vary by region. Coursera's audit option lets you view course material at no cost where available, while graded assignments and the certificate come with the paid certificate experience or a subscription such as Coursera Plus.

Coursera offers financial aid to learners who cannot afford the fee, for eligible programs. You apply for it on the Coursera course page itself - look for the financial aid link under the enroll button.

Outcomes & support

Yes. A shareable certificate is available on completion under the applicable Coursera certificate experience. You can add it to LinkedIn, your resume or CV, your social media and other professional profiles. It is a course certificate from Board Infinity issued through Coursera - not a government-recognised reasoning certification.

It is built for exactly that preparation: the syllabus, the timed practice and the graded quizzes are all oriented towards competitive exams, campus placements, job aptitude tests, entrance examinations and recruitment assessments. What it cannot do is guarantee an outcome - no course can promise a job, a placement, an interview result or a particular exam score.

Any selection process with a logical or analytical reasoning section. Common examples include campus placement assessments, banking exams, government exams and MBA entrance papers such as CAT and XAT, as well as pre-interview aptitude tests of the kind used by companies including TCS, Infosys and Accenture. These are named only as examples of contexts where reasoning is tested - this course is an independent Board Infinity resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

The course includes discussion prompts - "Patterns, Puzzles & Your Reasoning Journey" in module 1 and "When Logic Gets Tricky - How Do You Decide?" in module 3 - plus Coursera's own course discussion forums, where you can compare approaches with other learners. One-to-one mentorship is not part of the course itself; Board Infinity's 1:1 coaching is a separate optional add-on.

Free material is genuinely useful, and plenty of it is excellent. The differences here are structural: a sequenced syllabus rather than isolated topics, difficulty that deliberately steps up from easy to difficult, timed practice quizzes after every topic, 5 graded assessments that tell you where you stand, a shortcut-oriented treatment of the hard sets, and a shareable certificate at the end. You are paying for order, feedback and proof rather than for the questions themselves.

This course is part of the Job & Exam Aptitude Mastery: Reasoning | DI | Verbal | Quant Specialization. Subscribing gives you access to every course in it - this one plus Data Interpretation & Insights, Verbal Mastery and Quantitative Aptitude Mastery - and you earn a certificate for each course you complete as well as for the Specialization itself. You can cancel at any time on Coursera.
