Quality Improvement and Management is a comprehensive introduction to quality – covering fundamental concepts, advanced techniques, ISO standards and strategies for enhancing customer satisfaction. It is designed to give you the knowledge and practical understanding to apply quality improvement principles effectively in a range of settings.

The shape is consistent across all three modules: short video lessons, a reading that goes deeper, then a graded quiz on the same material. There are 48 video lessons, 9 readings and 9 assignments across roughly eleven hours.

It assumes no prior background in quality management. Module one starts at what quality means and why it matters, then the course builds outwards – through quality management systems, ISO 9000 and ISO 9001, the PDCA cycle and statistical process control, to customer perception, feedback and continuous improvement.

This is an introductory-level course designed to provide skills and knowledge in Quality Improvement and Management. It does not guarantee job placement, and it is not an accredited certification programme. It is an independent educational resource created by Board Infinity and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any certification body.

08 FAQ

Common questions

Everything learners ask before enrolling, answered plainly.

About the course

Three modules. Module one covers the fundamentals: the evolution and meaning of quality, why it matters, basic quality concepts, the customer's role, the principles of quality improvement, basic quality tools, feedback, and the PDCA cycle. Module two covers quality management systems: the benefits of ISO registration, the ISO 9000 series and sector-specific standards, ISO 9001 and its implementation, advanced quality management tools, industry applications and case studies, and statistical process control with the 7 QC tools. Module three covers customer satisfaction: customer perception of quality, feedback, translating customer needs into requirements, customer-centric quality strategies, feedback analysis and continuous improvement. That is 48 video lessons, 9 readings and 9 assignments.

No. The course starts at what quality actually means and why organisations care about it, before it introduces a single tool or standard. Coursera lists the recommended experience as beginner level, so no prior background in quality management is assumed.

Roughly eleven hours end to end – approximately four hours for module one, four for module two and three for module three. Coursera's own guidance is one week at ten hours a week. It is fully self-paced with a flexible schedule, so spreading it across evenings and weekends is completely fine.

Yes. Module two includes The Requirements of ISO 9001 and Its Implementation (6 minutes). To be clear about what that means: the course teaches you what the standard requires and what implementing it involves. Completing the course does not make you or your organisation ISO certified – ISO certification is issued by accredited certification bodies, not by a course.

Yes, across four lessons in module one: The PDCA Cycle: An Introduction, Detailed Exploration of the PDCA Cycle, Application of PDCA in Real-World Scenarios and Continuous Monitoring and Improvement for Quality Enhancement.

Yes. The final section of module two is dedicated to it: an overview, Introduction to SPC and Its Importance, The 7 QC Tools for Quality Control, Real-Life Applications of SPC and Continuous Quality Improvement with SPC, plus a reading on statistical process control and a graded quiz.

They are the seven classic quality-control tools used to investigate and control process variation – conventionally the check sheet, histogram, Pareto chart, cause-and-effect (fishbone) diagram, scatter diagram, control chart and stratification. The course introduces them in module two, inside the statistical process control section, alongside the advanced quality management tools that build on them.

An entire module. Module three covers who the customer is, how customers perceive quality, the importance of feedback, translating customer needs into requirements, designing quality with the customer in mind, engaging customers, case studies on turning feedback into action, feedback analysis tools, developing a customer-centric culture, and future trends in customer satisfaction and quality management.
