01 About the course

Modern SAP development, taught the way RAP is actually built.

This course takes experienced ABAP developers deeper into the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), the modern development model for SAP S/4HANA applications. Learners begin with RAP architecture and the difference between managed and unmanaged scenarios.

From there you build a first RAP application end to end: CDS views, behavior definitions, behavior implementations, database tables, business configuration, OData UI services, projection views, metadata extensions and Fiori Elements.

The course then moves into advanced RAP features — large objects, determinations, validations, instance-bound actions, factory actions, dynamic feature control, side effects and early numbering.

The final module covers Entity Manipulation Language (EML), CRUD operations, ABAP Unit testing, unmanaged entities, projection views, unmanaged scenarios, SAP Business Application Studio, RAP Fiori applications, and career and certification pathways.

02 What you'll learn

Four outcomes, straight from the course objectives.

These are the official learning outcomes listed for the course on Coursera.

03 Who it's for

Built for developers who already write ABAP.

This course modernises existing ABAP skills rather than teaching ABAP fundamentals from scratch.

Not a beginner course

Some familiarity with core ABAP and SAP development is expected. If you are starting from zero, the earlier courses in the specialization cover ABAP fundamentals first.

1:1 coaching · optional add-on

Learn RAP with someone in your corner.

Get unstuck in minutes

The activation error you have stared at for an hour, explained by someone who has hit it before.

Your RAP objects reviewed

Behavior definitions, determinations and EML read line by line — not just whether they activate.

Practice beyond the quizzes

Scenarios set for you, then reviewed, so RAP patterns turn into something you reach for by instinct.

Aim it at a role

Which SAP path fits you — RAP development, S/4HANA or technical consulting — and what to learn next.
