Understanding Penguin Problem on Platform-mediated Networks
Completion Date : Sep 2016
Platform Mediated networks bring two sides – buyers and sellers, of the network on a common platform. Platforms are characterized by network effects, consumption externalities, switching costs etc. Penguin Problem: This problem is about which side of the network to build first. If buying side is not developed, sellers will not come on the platform and if there are not enough sellers on the platform, the buyers will not come. This results in a catch-22 situation. For the project, we studied the following: 1. Matching platforms: Matching of the two sides happens on the platform, but transaction takes place outside the platform E.g. Shaadi.com, Naukri.com 2. Transaction platforms: Matching and transactions, both happen on the platform E.g. Flipkart, Amazon, IndiaMART 3. Information mediation platforms: The platform acts as a medium of information discovery E.g. Practo, JustDial. Studied and interviewed senior managers of some companies how some of these platforms solved the penguin problem, referenced books like Penguin Problems by Jory John.

Change Management - ChangePro Simulation
Completion Date : Jun 2016
The Change Pro Simulation® is an engaging and realistic computer-based learning tool. Our task was to support the implementation of the Group's latest corporate initiative in 120 days or less. We had to convince as many of the 24 top managers as possible to "adopt" this initiative and agree to support its implementation within the division. The mission is particularly challenging as we had essentially no hierarchical power over the division's top management team and will have to rely on their soft skills and the 25 tactics provided to succeed. We were the only team (of a total of 16 teams) to manage to complete the whole task successfully.
