My Early Career Journey

My name is Vishnu Petla. I am basically from Vishakhapatnam.
After completing schooling, I joined the Avanti Institute of Engineering & Technology in Vishakhapatnam and earned my B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Towards the end of the course in 2020, I was also placed at Cognizant for the role of a Programmer Analyst. However, the COVID situation delayed my joining, and in the meanwhile, rather than sitting idle, I thought of pursuing a course that could land me a better job - since a job in the IT sector might pay me much more than the job in my field.

In the IT sector, prospects in the software field were booming and I had learned a little bit of programming in college, my inclination was more towards business and decision-making. Considering my interests, Data Science seemed like the ideal career path for me and I approached Board Infinity for guidance.

The courses offered by Board Infinity were not only economical but also well-structured and I could also seek placement support as a part of the course. After 1 hour of zoom meeting about what to expect from the course, I decided to enroll in the Data Science Learning Path Course at Board Infinity to get my Data Science career started.

Learning Experience At Board Infinity

Learning with Board Infinity was very smooth even though I was venturing into a field that was entirely new for me. Thanks to the coaches who went the extra mile to expose me to industry-specific knowledge.

Among the modules that we studied as a part of the Data Science course, I enjoyed learning Tableau and Data Visualization a lot. Machine Learning was of great interest too other than SQL and Python.

The course overall helped me develop my knowledge in the Data Science domain through various modules and I also got to work on several projects which helped me develop my skills.

However, mid-course Cognizant again approached me to join the position, and since Board Infinity gives its learners the option to opt for placement support for an entire year, I thought of giving a chance to my job at Cognizant as a Programmer Analyst for some experience.

Placement Journey

After almost a year, in February 2022, I approached Board Infinity again for job support in the Data Science field. With the help of mock interviews and placement preparation activities, I was able to crack the interview for Tiger Analytics for the position of Business Analyst.

I would like to credit 90% of my placement to Board Infinity for helping me restart my career in an entirely new field. My father, who has always been so supportive of my career decisions, is also very happy to see my work in the Data Science field. I would also like to thank Sir Ravichandra from my college, who encouraged me to take the Data Science course, without him I wouldn't be so convinced about the field.

To all the people like me, who are thinking of a career transition, I am urging them not to get confused, and to start making concrete decisions when it comes to courses by assessing their interests. And once they have decided on the course, they should gain experience in the same by learning to implement whatever they learn.

I have never settled for anything less than what I wanted in life. I believe, it doesn't matter where you start, but it's all a part of your learning and it will eventually contribute to helping you become who you want to be.
