Sarthak’s Journey From Being a Fresher to a Senior Data Associate at Genpact

My Early Career Journey

My name is Sarthak. I am from Faridabad, Haryana.

I have been a sincere student in both my school and college life. As it takes only three years and I could go for a master's or a job soon, I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Computer Applications from G.G.S.I.P.U. instead of a B.Tech.

My BCA program was about to end this year, and I couldn't make up my mind whether to go for an MBA or a job. It seemed like a better option to have a job, so I searched for professional certifications that could help me find one and ended up on Board Infinity’s website. What a great find, I must say!

My friend had joined Board Infinity a few months ago, so based on his recommendation, I decided to take the Learning Path in Data Science course.

I have been familiar with the Data Science field since college. With my strong knowledge of programming and math, I chose to embark on this career path brimming with immense potential.

In December 2020, I enrolled in the Learning Path in Data Science Course.

My Experience with Board Infinity

Board Infinity has been a fantastic experience for me. Through this course, I learned many new things including Machine Learning, Math & Statistics. My background is in BCA, so I had some experience with programming languages, but I was totally new to machine learning. The fact that Board Infinity instructors covered so much of the module in such a comprehensive way made it easy for me to understand!

Several projects, assignments, and quizzes provided hands-on experience in the Data Science field through practical application. Having a course structure such as this one provided me with knowledge of industry projects and how to approach them as a professional.

Placement Assistance by Board Infinity

Besides the modules, the 1:1 placement preparation process was the cherry on top. I received training on the type of questions that would be asked in the Data Science interviews from my placement coach. Having gained experience from mock interviews, I was finally prepared to interview for a Data Science position at a good organization.

Genpact's profile for Senior Data Associate was shared with me by my program manager. At this point, I was confident enough in my knowledge of SQL, Python, Tableau, and Machine Learning. I handled the interview questions well.

My recruiters gave much weight to the projects I did with Board Infinity during my course, and I impressed them with my knowledge gained in such a short period. It's great to feel that I’ll be working for Genpact as their Senior Data Associate.

Clearly, this is an exciting field and will provide me with numerous opportunities to learn, and a start as great as this one is only a starter pack for a successful career.

I would also like to use my Data Science skills through automation in the future to do something in trading.

People looking for a career change should know that learning something new isn't difficult, it's just the implementation part that takes a little time, but if you put the effort in, you will be successful.
